International Academy of Hair & Aesthetics Names Winner of Patriotic Beauty Flag Competition
A cosmetology student in Tempe, AZ won a $1,000 gift certificate for training at the National Laser Institute for her entry in the Patriotic Beauty competition.

TEMPE, AZ, July 27, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patriotism is a beautiful thing to Michele Turchi, a cosmetology student at the International Academy of Hair & Aesthetics, 4812 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe.

Turci's project, which incorporated Old Glory framed in front of the U.S. constitution, won first place in the Tempe school's Patriotic Beauty flag competition. She won a $1,000 gift certificate for training at the National Laser Institute for her efforts.

In addition to the flag competition, the Tempe school's Patriotic Beauty campaign included free services to family members of military personnel serving, or being deployed, to Iraq or Afghanistan. The special event ended July 3, but will be offered again next year. The campaign was also held at the Tempe campus' sister school, the International Academy of Hair and Design, 3350 N. Arizona Ave. in Chandler.

"Our men and women in uniform make a huge sacrifice by putting their lives on the line to protect and preserve our freedom," said Jessica Woman, one of the owners of International Academy of Hair & Aesthetics. "However, the family members of these soldiers also make sacrifices and are often overlooked. Our Patriotic Beauty campaign is one way we can show our appreciation to the families of these brave soldiers."
