Texas High School Wins the Ultimate Prom: Allen High Receives $25,000 to Create their Dream Prom in 2010
Texas High Schools wins $25,000 through Win the Ultimate Prom Contest

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, December 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With prom season just around the corner, the class of 2010 is gearing up for the end of the year bash. For one school in Texas, prom just got a lot sweeter. Allen High School in Allen, Texas won $25,000 from the Win the Ultimate Prom (WUP) contest, presented by Grand Canyon University. The cash prize was awarded to the school with the highest participation and most online votes at WintheUltimateProm.com.

"We're thrilled we won." said Allen High senior class secretary, Danielle Banks. "We're still working on a theme, so no telling what were going to do with it; but hey, were from TEXAS, so we do everything BIGGER!"

Mission Bay High School in San Diego, Calif. won the second place prize, an Awesome Club Prom Package, including a light show, video screen, club style disc jockey and more, valued at $5,000. The top 100 participating schools will receive a BuzzFree Prom kit, promoting safe and sober proms.

To date, Grand Canyon University through the Win The Ultimate Prom Contest has awarded more than $100,000 in cash and prizes to schools in Arizona, California, Texas, and Florida in just two years.

This two-month long WUP contest attracted more than 16,000 participants from 316 high schools nationwide. More than 70,000 total votes were cast from October 1 - November 30.

New this year was WUP's PROMoter program which attracted 25 students nationwide who were given tools such as posters, buttons, and flyers to promote WUP in their schools and surrounding communities. WUP PROMoters shared their promotional efforts on the WUP PROMoter Blog, posting video, pictures and blogs and saw tremendous success with nearly 14,000 blog visitors.

WUP contestants used their own social media profiles to promote the contest and encourage friends and followers to vote for their school, while WUP's Facebook fan page, MySpace page and Twitter provided exclusive contest updates as well as partnership and prize news.

WintheUltimateProm.com will continue to be a content-rich Web site with blogs, articles and advice on all things prom. In 2010, Win the Ultimate Prom will host more contests culminating in October with the fifth rendition of Win the Ultimate Prom, where schools across the country can compete for $25,000 for their Ultimate Prom.
