Arizona authors, musicians and businesses promote healing for humans while raising funds for Safe Haven for Animals at the Healing Arts Fair on October 23rd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Scottsdale, Arizona. This event is free to the public.

GOODYEAR, AZ, October 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Arizona authors, artists and musicians will provide healing for humans while raising funds for animals at the second annual, Healing Arts Fair on Saturday, October 23 at the historic Kiva Center (SE corner of 5th Ave and Craftsman Court) in downtown Scottsdale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prizes and gift baskets will be raffled off every hour during the event and attendees will have the opportunity to also meet some of the cats seeking a forever home from the no-kill animal shelter, Safe Haven for Animals. There is no admission fee and public parking is available behind the Kiva Center.

All of the vendors have paid a booth fee which goes directly to the shelter and have also pledged up to 50 percent of their sales that day to benefit Safe Haven for Animals located in Scottsdale. There is no cost for public entrance and free public parking is available at the parking garage behind the historic Kiva Center. About Safe Haven for Animals
Safe Haven for Animals is a cage-less, no-kill shelter located in Scottsdale, Arizona, providing care for approximately 50 cats at any given time, with the population increasing significantly during kitten season. Annually, Safe Haven is able to find homes for an average of 120 animals. Our primary objective is to place every companion animal in a loving, safe home. The animals received at Safe Haven's shelter which are not adopted will always have food, shelter, veterinary care, love and a safe place to live out their lives. Safe Haven for Animals is an entirely volunteer run organization; there are no paid staff members, only dedicated animal lovers working hard to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals.

Through fundraising efforts Safe Haven has managed to stay afloat but the economic downturn has made funding difficult. In the Phoenix area, there is an increasing need for animal rescue as more and more pets become displaced due to home foreclosure. Safe Haven does not currently receive corporate sponsorship or grant funding, although the volunteer team is working towards conventional and non-conventional funding as part of their plan for the future. Needless to say, running the facility presents a serious challenge with limited funds to pay rent, purchase cleaning materials, supply food, provide veterinary care and medications, maintain regular adoption events and recruit volunteers.

The mission of our non-profit is to begin creating a better world through rescue, foster care and adoptions; one where animals in need can know love and happiness. By providing information on its website, through educational programs and adoption events, Safe Haven for Animals encourages others to share its vision.

Accomplishments:
•Safe Haven provides opportunities for more than 20 volunteers to contribute to the community in a rewarding and significant way;
•Safe Haven opens its facility to the public and various children‟s groups to teach the importance of spay/neuter programs and provide instruction on how to care for pets (enclosed are photographs from a recent open house for a small Brownie troop);
•Safe Haven coordinates a number of foster families who provide care for animals that are too small to live at the shelter or need special attention;
•Safe Haven hosted hundreds of Disney volunteers for several months as part of the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program;
•Safe Haven continues to educate the public regarding the importance of altering pets as well as providing respite for homeless animals;
•Many of Safe Haven‟s volunteers care for feral colonies with their own personal funds, altering wild cats, providing food, water and necessary medical care as well as comfort from the excessive desert heat;
•Safe Haven has placed several cats at retirement communities to serve as therapy pets and companion animals.
